I like Woody Allen movies because I get his humor. He has a style of writing and directing in his movies. This movie Midnight in Paris was engaging from beginning to end. The acting was fine and the storyline was different. I recommend watching it if you get a chance.IMDB:A romantic comedy about a family traveling to the French capital for business. The party includes a young engaged couple forced to confront the illusion that a life different from their own is better.Gil and Inez travel to Paris as a tag-along vacation on her parents' business trip. Gil is a successful Hollywood writer but is struggling on his first novel. This movie isn't new but I only watched it recently. It is based on a true story and very inspiring. These types of movies are always enjoyable. The acting was great and the cast included: Mark Wahlberg, Greg Kinnear, Elizabeth Banks, Melissa Demyan, Steve Staiger, Vincent Riviezzo, Michael Kelly, Kevin Conway.

The summary of the movie from netflix: Devoted Philadelphia Eagles fan Vince Papale (Mark Wahlberg) has just lost his wife and his job as a substitute teacher. But by impressing his favorite NFL team's coach in open tryouts and winning a place on the field, he turns a terrible year into a winner. Casino Jack

I just watched Casino Jack. I didn't realize it was inspired by real events. Nevertheless, the movie was good overall. I just thought Kevin Spacey's character was really annoying with the movie quotes and impersonations. Definitely worth watching if you like political movies. Just confirms what we all know about politicians and that is they are all dirty.

I love a good dog movie and for some reason I thought this was going to be funny. However, the trailer lead me astray. It was kind of a boring drama. I can't recommend watching this movie because well it just wasn't good. The writing was bad and the overall storyline too linear. The character development was lacking as well.

I watched the anime series and enjoyed it very much. This movie was a big stinker. The acting was awful. The condensed storyline didn't flow. The character development was lacking. A movie with potential ended up sucking big time.

Do not watch this movie and waste your time. Instead rent the anime dvd's called Avatar: the Last Airbender.

I was surprised at how good this movie was. My expectations were lower because of Angelina Jolie's last movies and figured this would be about the same.

The storyline was good, the pace of the movie was fast, and overall the entire film was very entertaining. I would highly recommend watching this movie. Cheers!

This movie Suck turned out not to suck. It was a vampire comedy film and had more than its fair share of laughs. If you are in the mood for a decent movie that will make you laugh I would recommend watching this one.

This was the hardest documentary I have ever watched. It was emotional and gut wrenching. I think everyone should watch it from beginning to end at least once. It will change your your view of the world.

I am not a big Liam Neeson fan, but he is a very good actor. He does an extremely good job in this movie and makes his character extremely believable. This action movie delivers a good pace and storyline. Definitely worth checking out with a bucket of popcorn.

This was a weird movie to watch. It had an interesting setup but in the end I felt it came up short. It had a lot of potential to be a very good movie. That being said, you might want to watch it anyways because the acting was good. I might just be too harsh on the movie, but that's just the way I feel.

There were many mixed reviews on this film from both extremes of loving it and hating it. I was really in the middle.

This was a good sci fi action thriller. I thought it was pretty good for what it is. My wife guessed who the bad guy was early on which is always the older well known actor taking any part in lower quality films. I also liked mma fighter Cung Le fighting in this movie.

The movie had a good storyline, good pacing, and decent acting. I think the trailer is a good representation of what to expect to see. Watch it and enjoy. Cheers!

Another action flick that I enjoyed. It wasn't the best but it entertained me. I have seen numerous Dolph Lundgren movies so I have a good idea of what to expect. Surprisingly the quality of this movie was better than I thought it would be, maybe because Lundgren directed the movie too.

I admit it. I am a sucker for these mindless action flicks. Just like my enjoyment for horror movies, I lower my expectations whenever I watch these violent movies. I don't expect a great plot and just hope to be entertained. This movie is 50/50 for me.

It delivers what it sets out to do. Again, this is not a great movie but for an action movie it was better than OK. The trailer is a good indicator of what you will get. Cheers!

This is another one of those post-apocalyptic movies and is very dark in nature. This particular movie is put together well and does a good job making the post-apocalyptic world real. The acting was good and the pace of the movie was a bit slow at times, but acceptable. I think it is worth seeing once.

This movie is very straightforward and predictable. The trailer pretty much shows you what to expect. I have seen these 3 actors: Matt Dillon, Laurence Fishburne, and Jean Reno in many other films that I liked so I wanted to give this film a chance.

Instead we have a much older Jean-Claude Van Damme, Dolph Lundgren and mma fighter Andrei Arlovski in a futuristic action movie. Never the less, I enjoyed watching it and was entertained. I had much lower expectations watching this movie because I know both Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren have been putting out bad movies in recent years.

I had high expectations for this foreign film. The trailer looked good. I have seen the actors in other movies and they are good. Unfortunately, this movie missed the mark. I think it was just a bad storyline and the characters were unlikeable. All of them: father, son, daughter, and mother were just characters that annoyed me.

Don't let the trailer fool you and skip this unsatisfying movie.

Frankly I hated this movie. It was extremely slow paced, camera work was awful, and the music did not match. The quality of the film used seemed cheap too.

The trailer looked good to me and this had some pretty big names. I watched it and thought it had potential. I was somewhat entertained even though it was predictable. If you like apocalyptic type of movies, then you might like this movie. If you don't then you might want to skip this one. Watch the trailer and you should get a better feel for it.

Would I watch this again personally? Never. That's not to say it is a bad movie, but it is not a good one either.

I usually like George Clooney movies, but this one failed for me. I don't even know if this could have been a good movie. The acting is good, the plot interesting, but in the end just not entertaining.

I would say take a pass on this movie and watch Fantastic Mr Fox or Up in the Air. Those movies are much better and definitely enjoyable.

This movie got alot of good reviews. I personally hated it and easily got bored. People who like Blair Witch Project or Paranormal might like this film. Apparently, my taste is different and would say avoid this film even though it has Milla Jovovich and Elias Koteas in it.

It is boring, tries to be real but something phony comes across instead, and has crappy shaky camera work. Don't know why these filmmakers want to make it a roller coaster ride effect.

I looked up the authenticity of the movie online, and it seems questionable from what I read. Again, take a pass on this crappy movie.

I like watching zombie movies and accept them for what they are. Most are bad but there are always a few good ones. This particular movie Survival of the Dead was corny, boring, and not scary.

The idea behind this movie had potential. The execution just wasn't there. Pass on this and save your popcorn for another movie. Unless you want to fall asleep easy.

I like crime drama and thrillers. I wish there were more good ones out there with Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro. This movie Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans with Nicolas Cage was good. I wasn't sure what to expect but the trailer and the genre made me want to see it.

I enjoyed it and think you will to. This is a good popcorn movie.

This movie is based on a book that I didn't read. I am sure the book is better than the movie (they always are), but I enjoyed this movie anyways. Time travel is just one of those subject matters that interest me. Like the Back to the Future trilogy with Michael J Fox.

I meant to watch this movie a long time ago, but just never got to it until now. The trailer looked good and it had strong actors in it. However, I didn't want to get my expectations to high as to avoid disappointment.

This romantic movie was very enjoyable and definitely different. The acting was solid, the storyline great, and the pace of the movie kept me interested all the way to the very end. I would definitely recommend watching this one.

I like watching scary horror movies. Unfortunately, you have to watch alot of bad ones before you see a good one. It is much easier to enjoy them if you lower your expectations and focus on being entertained.

This movie had a good trailer and started out fine. But by the end of the movie, I regretted watching it. The characters were annoying and the story was too weak. This made the movie start to seem longer than it was. Avoid this one and eat your popcorn with some other movie.

I do enjoy a good anime movie and this Ninja Scroll was pretty good. It received raving 5 star reviews, but I wouldn't go that far. I thought it was just pretty good.

Be forewarned that this particular anime is adult oriented. I was initially shocked when I watched because I wasn't aware of it. This one is definitely not for kids.

First of all, they sure had a lot of actors in this movie? Many actors I have enjoyed in other movies. The acting was great, but the movie was boring. I would like to say it is awful because it just doesn't keep my interest. Such a waste of talent and effort. This was another period piece that I thought was very insightful. I liked the view of the British Empire from a person who didn't approve of what they were doing. The main character had to prove he was no longer a coward because of his friends and fiance made him feel bad. I thought it was a silly decision but important to have for a storyline.

I had seen this movie many years ago, but wanted to see it again with my wife. We were on a streak of watching some bad movies, then on a streak of good movies, and just wanted to continue watching decent movies.

Even though this is a corny high school romantic comedy, there are big named actors in it. They are super young in it and it is interesting to see all the movies they did after and how there professional lives unfolded. I would still give this a recommendation to watch, even though it is a bit dated.

On a side note, I have been to Seattle twice since I originally watched this movie and it was fun knowing all the landmarks and even the neighborhood this was filmed in. It made me check out my old Seattle trip photos.

This movie was a fun Hollywood type of movie with great big named actors. I think my wife and I needed to see a decent movie that was light hearted and this did the trick. It is funny at times and definitely makes you smile.

I am in my 40s so that might make this comedy funnier than it really is. As long as you know what you will be watching, I think you will enjoy it too. I recommend watching this romantic comedy movie.

This period piece is during World War 2 and deals with the Jewish people and Nazis in a special concentration camp with the purpose of counterfeiting pounds and dollars for war purposes. I don't know if this actually happened historically, but I am sure it was an idea that was kicked around.

This movie was put together very well. The character development was good. Not just the main character but all the supporting characters on both sides. The storyline and plot was good, too and told from the perspective of the survivor. Even though this story isn't original, the movie is directed well that you never lose interest at any time.

You might have to be in the mood to see it, but I recommend you watching this movie.

This was a crappy movie. Again, I am mislead by the netflix community into thinking this was an Indie or Art House type movie with their glowing reveiws. I should have known by the previews on the dvd before the movie started, that I would hate this movie.

This is a foreign movie that pretends to be a horror movie but it is mostly a drama. The characters are all unlikeable. The plot simply fails from beginning to end. The movie is slow paced and could have been told in 10 minutes.

Avoid this movie! The trailer is better than the whole movie.

I was surprised to see some of the big actor names like John C. Reilly, Salma Hayek, and Willem Dafoe in it. Even they could not save this movie. It ends with the promise of a sequel. I am not sure why. I was not entertained by this movie and don't think you will be either.

For some reason, I thought it would be pretty good from the trailer. I was wrong.

This movie had an interesting idea. Kind of the opposite of Jim Carrey's Liar Liar. I even like most of Ricky Gervais' movies. I think the movie is funny for about the first 15 minutes, but then it starts to take itself to seriously in developing a long and boring plot.

The development of the characters only makes them more unlikeable and nonsensical. And quite honestly after 45 minutes, the movie just starts to painstakingly drag. The ending is predictable and goes in the Hollywood happy ending way, but by then it is just too late to redeem itself.

You will get a couple of laughs from this romantic comedy, but it doesn't make it worth your time. Skip it in my opinion and save your popcorn for one of Gervais's other movies.

I thought this was a comedy because Matthew Broderick was in it. I was wrong. This is a drama and had very little humor in it.

There were some good things about this movie that I liked, but I don't think I can recommend you watching it. The trailer looked funny to me, but the movie isn't anything that I expected. Not good but not bad. There were scenes that I liked in the film when the main character gets inspired and decides to make changes in his life even though it goes against his heavily ingrained negative attitude.

Again, for some reason the trailer made me think it was a comedy.

The Lovely Bones

I didn't know what to expect from this movie. It had some big stars in it, but I knew it was about a murder from a child's point of view. From the trailer, I thought the girl's spirit tells her living father who her murderer is and he kills the murderer.

A couple of other things I thought the movie captured was the innocence of that time. It just seemed safer back then. I do remember a time when child predators were not as common as they are now today. Now we have pictures of kids on milk cartons and amber alerts.

The plot was very creative from beginning to end. Don't worry though, it makes sense through out the whole movie and is easy to follow. I liked the movie and would recommend it.

What is surprising is that this movie didn't get nominated for an Oscar considering all the 10 movie nominations. This was better than half of the nominated films and more deserving.

This was a movie that redeems itself in the end. In the beginning, I didn't care for any of the characters. They were all arrogant, rude, and selfish. However as the movie progresses, the characters become better developed and you start to like them.

The whole storyline is different and completely unpredictable. Of course, the ending was done in Hollywood fashion, so that part was telegraphed. Even so, the movie was entertaining and enjoyable. I think if this was an American made movie it may have just been simply corny.

This is a French movie and requires reading English subtitles unless you understand the language. I couldn't find a preview with the subtitles.

I found this movie The Line which is not an action or thriller but more of a crime drama. It had some big actors in it, but I never saw previews of this when it came out.

I thought the movie was better than decent and would recommend watching it. It is slow paced and really more of a crime drama film. In the end, the plot comes together with a twist. The acting is good and the cast fairly strong.

I like Gerard Butler movies but don't care for Jamie Foxx. I decided to watch the movie hoping Foxx would not ruin it for me. Overall, the movie was very decent, but would have been better if someone else was cast in his roll like Denzel Washington.

This did have a Hollywood ending and would have been much better if they allowed Butler to succeed in bringing down the system. In the end, the director took the safe route which made it a predictable movie.

Worth watching once, but there are better movies out there that are much more entertaining.

This action movie had some recognizable names and the plot was not too bad. However, the movie was completely predictable and the priest character was a little silly for my taste. The movie was too long and the execution was not good.

Again, the netflix community gave this glowing reviews and the trailer was done extremely well. This is again where the trailer is just so much better than the movie itself. You will feel cheated if you go in with high expectations because the movie doesn't deliver what you see in the trailer.

In the first 10 minutes you will know if you like this movie or not. I watched it all the way till the end. I wish I didn't though. I guess you have to watch a lot of bad movies to really appreciate the good ones.

I have to watch these types of movies because I can't help myself. I knew it was going to be bad because it had an mma fighter in one of the lead roles. I prefer Randy Couture in the octagon than in movies.

When I watched it I was a little tired so the movie made me sleepy. I guess that is not a good sign for an action movie. Lol.

Overall, the movie is presented well with good acting and a straight forward plot. I had higher expectations but the film is better than decent. If you enjoy this type of movie, then you will want to see this at least once.

This film for me was like watching a long boring TV show. The characters were not likeable and the scenery was a bit depressing. I wish I could say something nice about it, but I just can't recommend watching this movie. The description says it is a romantic comedy, but it was not funny or romantic at all.

The trailer is better than the movie itself. Upon seeing the trailer again, I should have known better than to listen to the netflix reviewers who are too generous with their reviews.

It wasn't really funny, but I enjoyed the movie for what it was. I think the beginning is slow, but the movie does redeem itself at the end by showing the growth of the main character. He pulls himself out of his slump into the real world again and realizes that there is life after a breakup.

This was a great foreign movie to watch. I wasn't aware of this movie until my wife put it in our netflix queue. It became available as a streaming movie so that was even better. I read the reviews and it got many great ones. That always worries me because I then have higher expectations.

I watched the trailer and thought it looked OK. Then I watched the movie and just enjoyed it for what it was. The acting was good, the scenery real, and the storyline executed well. I think the development for the main character from beginning to end was well done.

This was also a 2009 Academy Award®: Best Foreign Language Film nominee.

I think you have to either be a comic book fan or a science fiction fan to really enjoy this movie. I am both a comic book and science fiction fan so this was going to entertain me even if it was half way decent.

There were elements of other sci fi movies that were blended in this film. It took away from its originality, but what do expect when it is based on a comic book.

I also do like most of Bruce Willis' action movies to boot. The movie was not great but it was not bad either. Get some popcorn and enjoy this sci fi action flick. Hope you like it.

I liked this movie and my wife hated it. I knew what this movie was about and I think I have a fascination with these end of the world type movies. This one was just like The Day After Tomorrow movie. A big calamity hits the world, very few live and we watch a few characters' journey to survive.

Yes, this is a corny predictable movie with a Hollywood ending. The big stars do live in the end and live happily ever after. I was entertained just enough. I am going to say you will have to lower your expectations and just enjoy the movie for what it is. Otherwise, this movie will be very long for you.

This was an Oscar nominated movie and I didn't hear much about it. I saw the previews and it looked interesting.

The movie was interesting and the characters were developed well. However the storyline has many gaps or holes that left me disliking this movie. There was a 10-15 minute opening of a Jewish husband and wife talking about an event that leads the wife to kill her uncle because she had heard he died. So upon seeing him, she feels he is a demon or evil spirit. I don't know what type of symbolism this represents and have no idea how this relates to the rest of the movie. This may have been a cultural thing, but honestly the directors fail to make this event cohesive with the rest of the storyline.

I think all the actors from the kids to the adults did a great job portraying their characters. Even thought the beginning was disjointed, the real story that begins after that is quite interesting. The movie kept me involved all the way until the end. And just like many French movies I have seen, this film ended like they just ran out of money. This is no joke. A Serious Man seriously fails to execute on a movie that could have been great. Instead, it leaves you with a feeling of being short changed.

The Netflix community seemed to love this movie. I read their reviews and most of their reasons for liking the movie was idiotic. For example, one reviewer gave this a 4 star rating because he liked the music even though the movie was just OK at best. I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Would I watch this movie again? Nope. What I recommend it to a friend? No way. Is this Oscar worthy? Absolutely not. Will it win some awards? It probably will because the Coen brothers directed this movie. LOL.

I heard a lot about this movie so I was very skeptical that it would deliver based on all the positive press. I normally don't like what the main stream public likes, but this movie was excellent. I was very impressed with all the special effects they incorporated at every stage of the movie.

The acting was great, even though at times the characters were cartoonish. I am talking more about the military commander that comes across as a GI Joe wannabee. The actual avatars were pretty awesome. The storyline itself is predictable, although it did take a twist I didn't see. I didn't expect so many characters to die, too. That may have actually contributed to the overall story realism. Most Hollywood endings keep everyone alive for purposed of sequels.

Anyways, this is a great movie. Watch it and enjoy. Cheers!

My wife and I really enjoyed this movie Whisper of the Heart. Even though it is an animation, I think the film itself is able to capture the country's culture and values and express it to Westerners like us.

This was a fun film focused on the growing up of Japanese kids in their culture. It seems like kids are pressured to get ready for high school exams and are expected to know what they want to do for a career early on.

I have watched many Japanese films, and I liked the fact the animation included some realistic settings such as small apartments, crowded cities, and the rainy weather. A great movie worth watching. Hope you enjoy it too. Cheers!

I watch more bad movies than good ones, so I think I appreciate the well made movies that much more. In this movie The Young Victoria, I did not know what to expect. I have watched many BBC type movies, all the Jane Austen movies, and enjoy British movies in general. This movie did not disappoint me. In fact, I enjoyed this movie so much more than I would have expected.

It is actually based on historical events. How accurate it is I do not know, but the way it was presented was pleasant to watch. I think the characters were developed very well. You like both Queen Victoria and Prince Albert from beginning to end and hope they overcome the politics in their lives.

If you like these types of film, then you will certainly enjoy this movie. I will watch this again in the future. Cheers!

I think Quentin Tarantino makes good enjoyable movies like Kill Bill 1 & 2, and the Grindhouse Death Proof. There is almost a formula that he uses to make these movies fun and funny to watch. I think he incorporates it this movie too, but for some reason it falls a bit short.

He has a great cast, interesting plot, but somewhere in there I just felt it didn't deliver on the fun or humor. I can't really say why. Maybe I expected more because of his previous films and big actors. This movie was just ok to me. Not good or bad, but definitely watchable.

I am very surprised it got a few Oscar nods and would even be more surprised if it won best picture. There are just better nominated movies out there.

This movie looks like it could be a good thriller but it turns out to be a regular predictable movie. It has Kate Beckinsale as the main character dealing with her past in a remote area of the south pole.

This movie wasn't bad but it wasn't good. I think the attempt to make a good movie is there. The movie has good acting and a decent storyline, but many of the actions the characters make are counter-intuitive. What most normal people do in certain situations are ignored. In a way, it seems like you are watching intelligent people with no common sense. Doing things that only increase the chance of risk and harm to themselves.

All in all, the thriller part just doesn't deliver for me and I know I wouldn't bother watching this over again. You are better off watching any of Kate Beckinsale's vampire Underworld movies.

This was a good movie to watch. Very entertaining with quirky characters and simple storyline. I think what I like about it best was the humor in it.

I had already seen this movie before but it was a long time ago. I couldn't remember exactly what it was about, but I remember liking it. This is a cute romantic comedy which made me laugh a few times.

I don't really think Josh Harnett is a very good actor. He has that certain stiffness about him like Keanu Reeves. You know what I mean. But sometimes he fits the role perfectly. Anyways, in this movie it works. Josh Harnett plays his character well, the storyline is simple, and overall the movie is enjoyable even after all these years.

I recommend watching the movie if you haven't seen it or forgot about it like I did. It's on Netflix Streaming right now.

I knew this was going to be a sad movie to watch before I rented it. However, the trailer made it compelling to see.

The movie is extremely well put together. It has great footage of beautiful scenery, background information on who is involved and why, and an urgent sense of purpose.

Watch it and you won't regret it.

Ladron Que Roba a Ladron

This is a foreign film in Spanish that is very similar to the Oceans 11 movie. In this case it would be called Ocean 7 since that is how many members composed the team. It is hard to believe this is a 2007 movie because it seems much older and dated.

Overall, it was a corny and predictable movie. You kind of hope it will be a good foreign film with something different from its Hollywood blockbuster copy. Unfortunately, it falls extremely short. It is too long for what it has to offer. The twists and turns they try to put into the storyline are nothing new.

The only difference in this movie from Oceans 11 is that 50% of the purse stolen is sent back to the people it was originally conned from (robin hood ending). Not truly an original ending but a complete story just the same.

The trailer was decent, the movie was OK, but if you want to watch one of these types of movies, don't watch this one. Instead, go for Oceans11, 12 or even 13. They are better made and much more enjoyable.

This is a Hong Kong action thriller movie. I don't like to watch the dubbed movies and prefer to watch the movies in their native language and read the subtitles.

This movie doesn't disappoint. However, it is a karate action flick so you can not set your expectations to high. That said you will enjoy car chases, good cop bad cop stuff, and even a light love story.

The movie at times does seem long, but in the end there is a great martial arts choreographed ending that seems quite realistic. Needless to say it is well done. You can pretty much grab some popcorn and not worry about the plot. It is good guys vs bad guys with a Hollywood ending.

I was always curious about this famous conqueror I have read about. They have it on Netflix streaming so I thought I would give it a chance. Luckily for me the subtitles were available.

The movie is well done, the acting good, and the storyline may not be completely accurate, it gives a good recount of what may have happened. The effects were great and the filming of the landscape was very impressive.

I enjoyed the movie for what it is, even though it fell short of my expectations. If you like foreign movies, then I think you might like this too.

The Hurt Locker

This movie was very straight forward in its plot with 3 main characters. They are soldiers who help detonate bombs and we watch their journey in their tour of duty. The special effects were good, the acting was great, and the environment created was believable. Again, another movie highly rated and praised by Netflix users that misses the mark.

There was one major problem with this movie. The director allowed it to fall into the "Blair With Project" Stupid camera work. You know the kind that makes you vomit worse than the scariest roller coaster ride. By the way, I can take any roller coaster but this movie loses the potential to be a good movie. Frankly, based on the netflix reviewers, I had high expectations for this movie. By the end of the movie, I was just happy it was over.

I realized that the elements of a successful movie were there, but on top of being a long movie with retarded camera work, there were questions about the realism. Presenting a true reality seemed to be a goal of the movie, and in that quest it fails. The actions of some of the soldiers were just not believable.

I say pass on this movie and avoid the motion sickness. You would be better off watching Saving Private Ryan or Platoon. Those are both great movies. This movie The Hurt Locker is in Oscar contention but that is a mystery.

The movie trailer looked great but the movie didn't live up to its expectations. The trailer is better than the movie.

What happens when you put the star of Dexter's Michael C. Hall, the star of 300's Gerard Butler, and throw in a famous rap star Chris Bridges aka Ludacris? You get this futuristic gaming movie called Gamer. The question is does it succeed?

For me I had low expectations because the preview looked dumb. I could tell this would be a bad movie. However, it has people I like from Dexter and 300, so maybe there was the possibility it could be at least entertaining.

The technology was good, the storyline was fair, and it even had a happy Hollywood ending. Did I like it? No. Did I hate it? No. What I recommend it? No I wouldn't. I would think you would be better advised to watch Dexter season 1,2,3 or 4 or 300 if you really want to be entertained.

Gloomy Sunday

My wife picked this foreign movie from 1999. We usually try to watch the newer stuff, but this movie got great reviews from some other netflix users that have "similar" tastes as us.

The movie was great and takes place during the Nazi invasion and the Jewish Holocaust. You can read about the plot on the internet, but I think if you haven't seen it or heard about it, you should just watch it and form your own opinion.

The movie was interest enough that I googled it after watching it and then realized this is based on true events. Although wikipedia mentions that the suicides could be urban legend stuff or a marketing ploy.

If you like foreign movies and don't mind subtitles, then I highly recommend watching this movie.

Fifth Commandment

Yes, another karate action movie. What can I say, they are my weakness. Unfortunately, like I said in my last review, most action movies show the best parts in the trailers. Unlike the last movie, this movie was a disappointment.

The plot is dumb but not really necessary in these types of movies when you have good fight sequences. For me the best action scene was in the trailer. How sad! I hoped it would get better, but it didn't. The female lead in was annoying and reminded me of a fake Jennifer Lopez.

I may be influenced by the previous movie I saw Ninja Assassin, but these movies should be able to stand on their own. I like to watch these action movies over and over, but this will not be on the list. I can't recommend this one because it just misses the mark.

If you need a karate action fix, go for Ninja Assassin, Kill Bill 1 or 2, Crouching Tiger, Bloodsport, any Jet Li movie or the classic Bruce Lee's Enter the Dragon.

Ninja Assassin

I love karate action movies and the trailer looked good. Unfortunately, most times they show all the good stuff in the previews. This particular movie did not. It actually looked good and the movie itself was a great action movie.

With most karate movies, there isn't really much of a plot. The action for me anyways determines whether it was worth my time or not. This particular movie had a decent plot and great effects in the action scenes. Not quite like Kill Bill but just as fun.

So grab some popcorn and get ready for action. This is one of those movies you can walk in on and start watching anytime. You just enjoy it for what it is.

Big Fan

You may have noticed I watch a lot of movies of all sorts. I especially like foreign and independent movies. They usually have awards from Sundance or some other indie movie recognition.

This movie Big Fan actually did well at Sundance and most of the user reviews were extremely positive. The characters were well developed, the story line is complete from beginning to end, and there are a couple of actors I recognized.

So, I should have liked this movie. The problem is I didn't like this movie at all despite those reasons. In most movies there is a character in it that you like. Sometimes, it is the hero, the underdog, or a person who you can relate to. This movie had no one that was likable. Kind of hard to believe, but there it is. I lost interest because everyone was depicted as a loser, hater, or just unhappy.

It is difficult to watch those types of movies where everyone sucks. There is nothing in the story that redeems anyone. Would I recommend this movie? I would say hell no, not because it was bad, but it just wasn't entertaining to me. This was suppose to be a comedy or black comedy, but honestly I found very little to laugh at.

On a side note Patton Oswalt is the voice of Ratatouille which you will enjoy much more than this movie.

L'annulaire aka The Ring Finger

This was another French foreign movie that I thought would be good. The movie was actually engaging from beginning to end. The acting was fine and the story line was well paced. Not too fast and not too slow.

The problem is there are too many questions left unanswered. There is a picture of the conservator that Iris (the main character) finds from many years ago, but he has not aged since that picture was taken. All the other ladies in the picture have grown old. Is this a conservator trick? Why hasn't he aged? Is he the devil, a spirit, or even a real person? Who is the little boy ghost who keeps peeking out? Why do they even have the sailor character in the movie? Why does it take her a day and half to pick up the broken mahjong set?

They hook up during the movie, and the way they go about it is really awkward. Even the first love scene was surreal. One thrust and it was over. And they start to converse. No kissing, no hugging, nothing. Pretty hard to believe that particular scene.

In the end, there are too many metaphors to determine what happens and why it happens in the end. It isn't a David Lynch type of movie where enough clues allow you to speculate what happens next. It just leaves you with an unsatisfied feeling. It had all the elements of being a great movie, but for me fails in the way it ends.

The music in the movie by Beth Gibbons (of Portishead) was quite nice. My wife found the mp3 for it online. It wasn't one of the 3 songs in the credits.

I would not watch the movie again and so I can't recommend you watching it either.

You must know that I love foreign films. Especially when they are put together well. This Italian movie is a romance and drama, but doesn't feel that way. It seems to have two main characters that is the center of the movie. An unhappy wife who works in a chicken factory and an old Holocaust survivor who temporarily loses his memory.

I liked the movie from beginning to end. It comes together as it tells the stories of the past and present. Another thing I liked about the movie is the language and the passion they seem to all have in their voices. Yeah, I know it is just appears they speak mad all the time, but I think the people come across passionate too.

The preview video definitely made me want to watch the film. Check it out below.

I like horror movies in general. I especially enjoy Vampire films. Even so, I always put my expectations lower because of the type of film it is.

I thought the first movie was good. After watching half way through this movie, I was irritated. They made the main character weak, whiny, and stupid. And they continued to develop her character that way. It was very disappointing.

I would not recommend watching this movie because you would be mad at me and I persoanlly could not sit through it again. The director sucked this time, the actors were decent, and the storyline was predictably stupid with a retarded ending. Which leads into the third story movie.

This political movie based on actual events looked boring in the trailer to me. However, I was always curious about the details of the events during the Kennedy years.

This movie is well directed, scripted and casted. I think all the actors did an amazing job and were believable in their roles. They definitely captured the sense of pressure during these times where we almost went into WW III. I didn't realize how serious it was until watching this.

The movie is quite long, but the pace is fast so it doesn't drag at all. The characters are well developed so you get a good sense of what type of people these were. One thing I didn't like were the military people at the highest levels. They reminded me of Rumsfeld, Cheney, and Wolfowitz during the invasion of Iraq.

Watch the movie because you will enjoy it.

I usually don't watch too many old movies unless they are exceptional. Even movies that I watched as a kid thinking they were great were a disappointment when I saw them as an adult. Movies like the classic Star Wars.

Anyways, Breaking Away is a movie I heard was good, the preview looked OK, and they had some big stars before they had become big in it. As usual, I am not going to talk about the plot. I will talk about how I feel about this movie.

First of all, the acting was good and the storyline was great. It definitely catches the times they lived in. Quite frankly, I was entertained from beginning to end. So if you want to watch an oldie but a goodie, this is one of those. Also, on a side note, it sure is weird seeing some of these familiar faces in their youth.

Le Silence de Lorna aka Lorna's Silence

Another foreign flick because I love watching them. This particular movie had high reviews from Netflix users who are supposedly similar to me. How accurate does it come? Well, it's hard to say but lately I think they have been completely off.

I had high expectations of this movie. It had great acting, an interesting storyline (at least by the trailer), and great reviews from the netflix community. Quite honestly it starts off interesting with our main character Lorna talking to Claudy the drug addict she married for money. As the story goes she starts to become more attracted with him. For me I never saw the connection of why they were physically or sexually attracted to each other. He seemed to be an annoyance to her most of the time.

Even if you give that part of the story the benefit of the doubt, the ending is awful. It is there, but a few questions remain unanswered for me. Why does she think she is pregnant when the hospital tells her the results are negative? Then why does she lose her common sense in the end? I don't think the director intends her to become insane at the end, but that is almost the only thing you can conclude base on her actions. I expected the story to go a bit further, but just like some other French movies I have seen, it seems like they end the movie as soon as they run out of funds. Does the whole story make sense? It doesn't matter...The End
